Zenith Quartet
Audrey Park (16), a violinist, currently attends West Ranch High School. As a concertmaster for the Los Angeles Youth Orchestra, she had the honor of performing in Cremona, Montecatini and in Rome during the group’s Italy Summer Tour. She was selected to join Junior Chamber Music’s Honors tour to Prague, Vienna and Budapest as a Debut Artist. This is her fourth year in JCM.
Audrey was the winner of the Santa Clarita Concerto Competition, San Fernando Valley Concerto Competition, and Gail Newby Concerto Competition. She won the WGStill Art Center’s Young Artists Competition and received scholarship. In addition she was the first place winner of the Great Composers International Music Competition. Her other accomplishments include placing in VOCE, ASTA, and Classics Alive. Audrey has also attended Montecito International Music Festival for two years with scholarship and was invited to participate in Glenn Dicterow’s and Cho-Liang Lin’s masterclass. With scholarship, she attended Bravo International Music Festival and played in Jan Sloman’s masterclass. Audrey performed with guest artists Gil Shaham, Adele Anthony, Cho-Liang Lin, and Kyoko Takezawa at the La Jolla Music Society Summerfest.
She enjoys spending time with family and friends, horse-back riding, and snowboarding.
Sanghyun Kim (16) started playing violin in 1st grade. He is currently a junior and the concertmaster of Symphonic Orchestra at Portola High School in Irvine. This year is his 2nd year to be a part of JCM program. He has been a member of California All-State Honors Orchestra, SCSBOA All-Southern California Honors Orchestra, Irvine Honors Symphonic Orchestra, and the Pacific Symphony Youth Orchestra. He has also won first place in SYMF competition. In his spare time, he enjoys swimming, playing water polo, and bowling.
Kevin Cho (17) has played the viola for eight years and now studies with Dr. Nicholaus Yee; now a senior at University High School, he has performed in many orchestras, such as the Pacific Symphony Youth Orchestra, IUSD Honors Orchestra, and the All-State Honor Ensembles. Kevin is eager to experience chamber music as a first-year JCM violist. In his free time, Kevin enjoys playing fantasy basketball and aquatic sports, as well as spending time with his family.
Sedong Hwang (17) is a junior at University High School. He has studied cello for 12 years. He continuously works on his repertoire with his teacher Joon Sung Jun and he has studied with Stan Sharp and Robert deMaine. Sedong's passionate pursuit of perfecting his performance has earned him the title of winner of ASTA LA Finals, winner of SYMF Young Cellist, and winner of VOCE Chamber Competition, a member of All Sate California High School Orchestra.
He attended Montecito International Music Festival for three years and completed his sixth year as a member of the JCM ensemble. His ensemble has been named debut artists for the past 3 seasons. Also with JCM, he has had the opportunity to Honor Tour at Carnegie Hall in New York, Boston, Prague, Vienna, and Budapest. Most recently, he has performed with the Orchestra Collective of Orange County as the winner of the JCM Concerto Competition and has been co-principal of PSYO orchestra for two seasons. Sedong had the privilege of participating in master classes with Lynn Harrell, Robert deMaine, and Daniel Rothmuller. He has also performed with John Walz, Dennis Karmazyn, and Susan Boettger.
In his free time, Sedong likes to read books on human psychology, plays basketball and listen to jazz music from the 20's.
