Valentina Wen-Ting Huang
Born in Taiwan, Huang performed at the Gala Concert of Junior Original Composition Yamaha in Japan at the age of 9 and entered the University for Music and Performing Arts in Vienna, Austria (former Hochschule für Musik und darstellende Kunst Wien) at 15. She was honored with the National Excellence Award for Young Artistic Talents in Taiwan and received the scholarship from the Austrian Ministry of Science and Research. After graduating from Vienna Music High School (Musikgymnasium Wien) with Excellence, Huang received her Concert Diploma and Master’s Degree from University for Music and Performing Arts in Vienna. Huang obtained her Doctor of Music from Indiana University, mentored by Distinguished Professor Menahem Pressler.
As a soloist, Huang has performed in Austria, France, Germany, US and Taiwan. With her first ensemble Moirae Trio, Huang appeared in the concert season of the Joliet Music Festival, Illinois and performed at the Gala Concert for Menahem Pressler’s 80th birthday celebration in Bloomington at IU. The trio was the Third Prize Winner and Audience Award Winner at the Chesapeake Chamber Music Competition. Huang performed the Beethoven Piano Concerto No. 4 and Beethoven Triple Piano Concerto with the Orchestra of Indiana University. Joining the Felici Piano Trio, Ensemble-in-Residence in Mammoth Lakes, California, Huang presented the concert seasons, toured in California, Washington and Texas and hosted the Mammoth Lakes Music Festival from 2005-2008. The trio has recorded the Ravel and Saint-Saens Trios.
Currently she is the Director of Keyboard Studies at CSUSB, Adjunct Faculty at Pasadena City College and Vice President of MTAC Hacienda Heights Branch. She is a frequent adjudicator for MTAC’s Certificate of Merit, Southern California Junior Bach Festival, Southwestern Youth Music Festival, among others and serves as the piano coach and Branch Director for Junior Chamber Music, Inland Empire.
