Solim Shin
Dr. Solim Shin has teaching experience over 20 years since 1997. Dr. Shin was a faculty of Community School of Art in University of Connecticut from 2006-2008. Dr. Shin's students have won prizes at competitions including Menuhin, Louis Spohr, Little Mozart, Crescendo International Competition, American Protege, NJMTA Competition, International Grande Music Competition, Camerata Artist International Competition, Adelphi Orchestra Young Artist Competition, New York Music Competition by YWCA, G. Gershwin Competition. Also, her students were accepted from Manhattan School of Music Pre-College, the Juilliard School PreCollege and National Youth Orchestra(NYO-USA) as a concert master.
Dr.Shin began violin studies at the age of 5 in her native Korea. She holds a Master of Music degree from the Mannes College the New School for Music in New York, Performers Certificate Program at the University of Connecticut and Doctor of Musical Art Degree at Rutgers University. Dr. Shin studied with her mentor, Prof. JongHwa Hong in SookMyung Women’s University in Korea, Dr. Chin Kim in Mannes College of Music. Dr. Solim Shin lives in Irvine, California with her husband Kevin, and two children Lauren and Leon
