Yoko Rosenbaum, sixteen, is recognized as a "young artist beyond her age" (San Francisco Classical Voice). After making her solo debut with the Los Angeles Doctor’s Symphony at age ten, Rosenbaum performed at Carnegie Hall's Weill Recital Hall at age eleven. Since then, Rosenbaum has performed internationally in Israel, Germany, Austria, Russia, Estonia and Finland. Rosenbaum is a prizewinner of numerous piano competitions, including the Alice Frazier Kitchen Competition, Robert Turner Piano Competition, Palisades Young Artist Competition, Kathryn Gawartin Chopin Piano Competition. Additionally, she has been selected twice to perform in the prestigious Colburn Honors Recital at Zipper Hall.
An avid chamber musician, Rosenbaum's ensembles have garnered prizes in the Junior Chamber Music/USC Chamber Competition, MTAC State VOCE competition, and became a semifinalist in the acclaimed Fischoff National Chamber Competition. For the past five years, Rosenbaum has been one of the select young performers in the Music@Menlo Summer Chamber Music Festival led by esteemed artistic directors Wu Han and David Finckel. Rosenbaum began piano lessons at age four and now studies with Robert Thies at the Colburn School of Performing Arts.
Rosenbaum is also a budding writer, with articles on music published in the San Francisco Classical Voice. She is a sophomore at Crossroads School for Arts and Sciences where she is the founder of a literary magazine called "Outlier" and serves on the editorial board of “Dark as Day,” a high school literary publication.
Chisa Kodaka began her violin studies at the age of 5 in San Francisco. Her current teachers are Mr. Aaron Rosand, Mrs. Christina Khimm, Ms. Gail Mellert and Mr. Etienne Gara. She made her concerto debut at age 12 performing the Mendelssohn Violin Concerto with the Bellflower Symphony and with the San Fernando Symphony. She has been a prize winner of the Southern California Junior Bach Festival, the American String Teachers Association, and Music Teachers Association of California Concerto Competition. Her ensemble experience includes chamber groups at the Ed and Mari Edelmen Chamber Music Institute, the Hoff-Barthelson Chamber Music Institute, JCM, Colburn School's Orchestra da Camera and the PVPHS Symphonic Orchestra as Concertmistress. She is currently the semi-finalist of the Spotlight competition.
Sixteen year old Iona Batchelder began her cello studies when she was 5 years old and currently studies with Sarah Koo. She is currently principal cellist in the Colburn Youth Orchestra, a cellist in the American Youth Symphony, and a member of a piano trio in the Colburn Chamber Music Institute and JCM Debut Artist program. Iona has won awards in many competitions, such as the Colburn School of Performing Arts Concerto Competition, the Torrance Symphony Young Artists Concerto Competition, and the Los Angeles Violoncello Society Scholarship Awards. Recently, she won third place in the junior division of the Fischoff National Chamber Music Competition as a member of Quartet Firenze. In 2010, she performed at Carnegie Hall's Weill Recital Hall as a member of a piano quintet in JCM. She has also performed several times on the Sundays Live radio broadcast program at the LOS ANGELES Museum of Art. Iona currently attends University High School and lives in Irvine, California.
