Prokofiev Duo
Lauren Lee (16) is a junior at West Ranch High School. She started playing flute at the age of 9 and has been studying with Mi Kyung Lee. She enjoys participating in competitions and receiving: 1st place in the Classics Alive Young Artists National Competition, winner of CSUN Philharmonic Concerto Competition, 1st place in the MTNA Concerto Competition, 2nd place in the CAPMT State Competition, 2nd place in the James Ramos International Competition, 1st in the American Composers Competition, Young Arts winner, and many more. She also plays in the CSUN Philharmonic orchestra. In her free time, Lauren enjoys running on her school’s cross country team.
Mina Jung (17) is a junior at Oak Park High School. She started piano at the age of 7 with Ms. Ornela Ervin, who is also her current teacher. This is Mina’s fifth year participating in JCM. For the past years, she has won honors in numerous competitions including Contemporary Festival, SCJF at both branch and regional levels, and MTAC YouTube Festimantic! Festival. She has passed the Advanced level of CM program with both branch and state honors. Mina has also performed with the Thousand Oaks Philharmonic Orchestra multiple times since 2014. In 2015, Mina was selected as a finalist in the New West Symphony Quick Bowman piano competition. She also was the 1st place winner for the 2016 Ann George Scholarship audition. Additionally, she was selected to perform at the Ventura County Music Festival Rising Stars concert in 2019. In 2018, Mina won a scholarship through JCM to participate in the Montecito International Music Festival, and in last year's season, her group was selected to attend master workshops in Busan, South Korea which was unfortunately cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Besides music, she is an active member of the National Honor Society club at her school, the school newspaper, and Westminster Free Clinic. When she has free time, she loves reading and drawing.
