Ko Ni Choi
Korean harpist, Koni Choi has been recognized and praised by the media such as The Philadelphia Inquirer as an artist of “naturalistic, theatrical sense of flourish.” Choi has concertized extensively throughout North America, Asia, & Europe, and has won numerous awards including the Nippon International Harp Competition, the Concours Internationaux de la ville de Paris, France, and the Korean Chamber Orchestra Competition.
Choi graduated from The Curtis Institute of Music (Bachelor of Music BM) in Philadelphia, where she studied with the legendary harpist Judy Loman and worked closely with conductors such as Simon Rattle and Christoph Eschenbach. After Curtis, she worked as a member of the Toronto Symphony and continued her studies at The Royal Conservatory of Music (Artist Diploma, AD). She has performed as a member of the Los Angeles Philharmonic, Vancouver Symphony, Baltimore Symphony, and many more. While she resided in New York City, she worked many years as a harpist for the longest-running musical show, Fantasticks.
Since she has moved to LA, she has actively been involved in the Motion Picture Recording Industry where she has performed in various movies and TV shows. She is currently a coach and a faculty member at Junior Chamber Music (JCM) and Harvard-Westlake School. As a music ambassador of her generation, Choi has a passion for outreach and giving back to the community. Choi has a distinguished private studio with talented students.
Choi continues her passion for music as a soloist, a chamber musician, an orchestral performer, a recording artist, and a teacher. Currently, she resides in Palos Verdes Estates, California with her loving husband and two amazing sons.
