Kary Kramer
Kary Kramer is currently a member of the Pleasant Valley / Ventura County Branch of the Music Teachers' Association of California. He has been an officer on the Santa Barbara Branch MTAC Board where he served in the capacity of Vice President. Currently, he is the Treasurer for the Southern California Junior Bach Festival Board, where he is also the chairman of the Bach Festival for Region I.
As a musician he has served as interim Director of Music for the First Congregational Church of Santa Barbara, has been on the faculty at the Walden School in Dublin, New Hampshire, where he taught Music Composition, and has performed numerous times with the Santa Barbara Symphony when they have programed works calling for keyboard instrument(s) in the orchestra. He has lectured at numerous Branches and at the Convention for the California Association of Professional Music Teachers. He operates a piano studio in Santa Barbara, and is also highly sought after as a judge for MTAC Branches, conventions, competitions and festivals throughout California.
Mr. Kramer holds a Bachelor of Music in Piano from the University of California at Santa Barbara, where he studied with Dr. Betty Oberacker and Peter Yazbeck. He is an alumni fellow of the prestigious Music Academy of the West, where he studied with Jerome Lowenthal, and he and his wife have served as Compeers for the past eleven seasons. Additionally, he holds an Artist Diploma in Piano from the Cleveland Institute of Music, where he studied with Anne Epperson, Eunice Podis and Paul Schenly, and where he is the recipient of the first Robert C. Weiskoph Memorial Award in Piano. Mr. Kramer has also received several Corwin Awards and commissions for his work in Music Composition. In his spare time he enjoys reading, writing poetry and painting.
