Bongshin Ko
Praised by critics for her "mastery of the instrument" with "great warmth and beauty" (The Strad), cellist Bongshin Ko has appeared worldwide at music festivals including Schleswig-Holstein in Germany, Rostropovich & Friends, Fundacio Barcelona, American Cello Congress, Summit New York and Seoul International. As a recipient of over 30 international prizes and awards including the highest performance award in her native Korea and the Crossroads Award in the US for her "superior teaching", her solo engagements have reached Germany, Spain, France, Italy, Switzerland, Monaco, Croatia, Russia, Poland, and most major cities in the US and Asia.
Ko has taught master classes at Juilliard School, München Music School and Seoul National University to name a few. Her recordings can be heard on SONY Classical and the Asiana Airlines international in-flight classical station among others.
As a founder and director of the university's annual CelloFest and Cello Choir, Ms. Ko is Professor of Cello and serves as Assistant Director of the School of Music.
