Allegro Trio
Brian Chang is a senior at Arnold Beckman High School in Irvine. He was Concertmaster of the OCMD Chamber Orchestra at its inaugural performance at Nixon Library in 2019. He served as Co-Concertmaster of the Pacific Symphony Santiago Strings and Pacific Symphony Youth Orchestra. Brian has performed at Carnegie Hall in New York, the Royal Festival Hall in London, Musikverein in Vienna, and Smetana Hall in Prague where he served as concertmaster during PSYO's recent European tour. Brian has also participated in numerous charity concerts raising funds to help tsunami & earthquake victims in Japan and disadvantaged children in Vietnam and China. He has won top prizes in competitions such as SYMF, Diamond Bars Performing Arts, American Protégé International Concerto Competition, AADGT, etc . Outside of music, Brian is captain of the Beckman Basketball team and enjoys subjects such as history, data science and coding.
Edelweiss Pak is a senior at Foothill High School. She is a five-year dedicated member and the principal cellist of the Orange County Youth Symphony Orchestra (OCYSO) and has been selected as their principal cellist for the last three consecutive years. She currently studies with Ms. Coco Yanan Hu, and had masterclasses with Professor Amit Peled and Hans Jørgen Jensen. She received awards in multiple solo competitions throughout the years. Most recently, she won the 1st prize and the Noumi Fischer Grand Prize for the 2023 Cal ASTA Bowed String LA Regional final competition. As a winner, she has been invited to perform with the Olympia Philharmonic in June 2024 at the San Gabriel Mission Playhouse. She also won the OCYS concerto competetion in 2021 and performed as a soloist at the Renee and Henry Segerstrom Hall. She also won the OCYS) concerto competition this year (2023) and has been invited as a winner to perform at their Finale Concert at the Henry and Rene Segerstrom hall in May 2024. Furthermore, she also received awards in multiple international solo competitions and recently won the 1st prize from Golden Music Award International competition in the NY division. She has actively participated this summer in multiple chamber groups and their ensemble received an award for the Amici international ensemble competition and also her cello ensemble from Coco Hu cello studio received an award for Great Composer International ensemble competition. She also continues to volunteer as a member of her privately formed String Quartet ensemble in multiple benefit and charity concerts. Lastly, other than music, she is enthusiastic about learning Statistics and Painting.
Yohana Kim (17) is a senior at Troy High School. She started playing piano at the age of 5 and has been studying with Mrs. Youngsook Park since the age of 9. Over the years, she has been a top prize winner in various competitions hosted by CAPMT, MTAC, and Southwestern Youth Music Festival, as well as at the SCJBF Complete Works Audition, SYMF Open Solo Piano Competition, Charleston International Music Competition, and Pelican International Music Competition. This past year she received the Panel Honors Award from MTAC. This is her fourth year in JCM and second year as a Debut Artist; last summer she received the opportunity to perform in Venice and Florence as a part of the JCM Honors Tour. In her spare time, she enjoys writing and penpalling and runs a bullet journaling club at her school.
