Groups

JCM selects and assigns students to small chamber groups, of 2-5 players each, according to their level of playing, age, and location. During this selection process, JCM makes every effort to accommodate reasonable requests from teachers and students regarding particular team members, repertoire, and coach assignments. In the event JCM is unable to find a suitable match, the student will be placed on the Waiting List.

Timeline

The JCM season begins with auditions held in late September / early October, and culminates with a Final Concert in late March/early April.

Activities

During the season, each duo receives 6 coaching sessions while trios and larger ensembles receive 8 coaching sessions at their Coach’s studio. Due to the nature of small chamber groups, there is flexibility with scheduling to accommodate each student’s other studies and activities. In addition to coaching sessions, groups generally rehearse weekly for about one hour, and usually pick the most centrally located homes for rehearsals. Each season, JCM offers master classes, workshops, competitions, retreats and several performance opportunities for students of all levels.

Eligibility
JCM is open to instrumentalists and vocalists, age 8-20 (collegiate groups may enter with pre-formed JCM groups only). Our levels range from upper intermediate to very advanced. Advanced players are encouraged to audition for the Honors Concert. Consideration for Debut Artists is open to high school players only with several years of chamber music experience.
