Zeleny Trio

Trio del Sol: Owen Hallinan, clarinet; Emma Ware, violin; Juliana Crotta-Cox, piano

 

Emma Ware is a senior at Santa Monica High School. She started playing violin in the fourth grade, and currently studies with Dr. Lorenz Gamma. This is her fourth year with JCM. In 2014, she placed third in the Kiwanis Solo Instrumental Competition. She has had the privilege of playing with California All-State, California All-Southern, and CODA honor orchestras. Emma was the concertmaster and soloist of the 2014 CODA String Orchestra. She has had the honor of touring San Francisco and Portland with her school orchestras, as well as to Argentina this coming April. She backed up the band Teen Bandit on violin at the 2017 Teen Choice Awards. In her free time, she plays water polo and enjoys painting and hiking.

Owen Hallinan is a senior at Harvard-Westlake School in Studio City, California. He began playing clarinet in the fourth grade and has been studying with Amanda Walker for the past eight years. He has twice been named a California All-State musician and has participated in the Idyllwild Arts Summer Music Intensive for the past four years, playing in the Symphony Orchestra this past summer.  This is Owen’s third year as a member of JCM. Owen is also a varsity baseball player in one of the top-ranked high school programs in the nation. He hopes to continue to play music and baseball in college.

Juliana Crotta-Cox is a senior at Marlborough School in Los Angeles, California. She has studied the piano since she was six years old with Dr. Ming Tsu. This past summer, she participated in Interharmony, an intensive music festival in Acqui Terme, Italy. This coming summer, she will attend the Borromeo Music Festival in Altdorf, Switzerland. She has also attended the Chamber Music Unbound program in Mammoth Lakes, as well as performed in the Prize Winners’ Concert for the Southwestern Youth Music Festival. Juliana has been involved with JCM for six years. In her free time, Juliana also plays tennis, volunteers at Transfiguration School, and enjoys spending time with her friends at the movies and the beach.
