Ying Wang

Cellist, Ms. Wang is from Beijing, China where she attended the Central Conservatory of Music and she received the Bachelor of Music Degree in 1997. While there she received the Excellent Performance Prize in the First National Cello Competition, 2nd place in the Bach Competition, and several times received the Excellent Student Recognition Award. She also toured with Beijing Youth Symphony Orchestra to Hong Kong, Taiwan and Thailand. As a sub cellist play with Central Ballet Orchestra of China, Beijing Symphony Orchestra, Woman Philharmonic and China Broadcasting Symphony Orchestra from 1997-2000.

In August 2000, Ms. Wang received a full scholarship from ISU and came to U.S. study with Cellist Mr. Greg Hamilton. She also as a teaching assistant, teaching in the Community Collage of ISU. While in the U.S. Ms. Wang also received a full scholarship to attend the prestigious National Orchestra Institute at University of Maryland at College Park, an orchestral training festival. While there, she studied with Stephen Geber, Principal Cellist of the Cleveland Orchestra and Ronald Leonard, former Principal Cellist of Los Angeles Philharmonic.


When she was in Illinois, she was a member of the Sinfonia da Camera, a chamber orchestra based in Champaign/Urbana and heard frequently on the National Public Radio Performance Today. She also was a Principal Cellist of ISU Symphony Orchestra and Chamber Orchestra. As a guest Principal Cellist played with Illinois Valley Symphony Orchestra, Sugar Greek Symphony Orchestra and Millikin- Decatur Symphony Orchestra. In 2003, she attended a Concerto Competition and she won the 1st Prize of the Strings Area of ISU. And gave a solo Performance with ISU Symphony Orchestra at Center for the Performing Arts. In may 2004, She received her Master Degree of Music Performance from ISU. In the summer of same year, she was invited as guest cellist to teach Master Class in Illinois Wesleyan University’s Cello Camp.

 

After Ms. Wang move to California in 2004, she played at United Musicians Symphony Orchestra of L. A., Korean Philarmonic Orchestra of Los Angeles, Asian American Philarmonic etc. and she also a member of MTAC and ABRSM. Her students participate in SYMF, CM, Satori String Contest, JCM (Junior Chamber Music), PSO (Prelude Symphony Orchestra), SSO (Seraphim Symphony Orchestra), ICPCO (Irvine Classical Players Chamber Orchestra), PYSO (Pasadena Youth Symphony Orchestra), BLYSO (Buddha's Light Youth Symphony Orchestra), DBHS Symphony Orchestra (Diamond Bar High School), Walnut High Orchestra, Arcadia High School Orchestra, Temple City High School Symphony Orchestra  and other Orchestra Auditions, and won the 1st place. In 2015, her student played ABRSM High Scores' Concert at Steinway Piano Gallery Recital Hall in Pasadena, California.

Ms. Wang ’s teaching experiences since 1997 – present: Beijing Donggaodi Primary School, teaching assistant of ISU, Illinois Wesleyan University Summer Cello Camp. Yamaha Music school, 2015 Winter Music Camp. of BLYSO, Coach of Junior Chamber Music 2015-2016 Season,Opus 119 Conservatory of Music.

 

Presently, Ms. Wang focuses on the teaching and performance in Los Angeles Area. She currently is a cello faculty at Opus 119 Conservatory of Music.
