Luke Santonastaso has worked as a musician, educator, and mentor throughout Northern and Southern California. He currently performs as a section member of the Santa Cruz Symphony and the Sarasota Opera Orchestra as well as being a core member of the unconducted chamber orchestra One Found Sound.
Throughout the years, he has performed alongside artists such as Midori Goto, Maxim Vengerov, Osmo Vänskä, Lynn Harrell, Gilbert Kalish, and The Borromeo String Quartet as collaborations with the National Orchestral Institute, National Repertory Orchestra, and Incontri in Terra di Siena music festivals. Luke is passionate about education and mentorship and has worked with the Palo Alto Chamber Orchestra, the Crowden School, and the Santa Monica Youth Orchestra as a coach and private teacher furthering the music education of our youth. He holds degrees (B.A. and M.M.) from UCLA’s Herb Alpert School of Music where he studied with Movses Pogossian and Guillaume Sutre of the Ysaÿe string quartet.
While he’s not playing music, Luke enjoys technology, great food, and caring for his feline child.
