Johanna Borenstein

Johanna Borenstein is an active orchestral and chamber musician in Los Angeles.  She frequently plays with orchestra's all over California such as LA Opera, San Diego Symphony, San Diego Opera, Modesto Symphony, Hawaii Ballet, Stockton Symphony, Culver City Chamber Orchestra and many others.

She was the winner of the San Diego Flute Guild Young Artist Gold Competition and Semi-Finalist in the National Flute Association Young Artist Competition.  She has recorded the Nielsen Concerto for Flute and Orchestra with the The Hartt School Symphony Orchestra as prize winner in the Paranov Concerto Competition.

Johanna is a highly sought after teaching artist in Los Angeles.  She currently has a full flute studio, is the Mentor Teaching Artist for the Jumpstart Program at the Colburn School of Music and is a coach for Junior Chamber Music Los Angeles branch.  Johanna was also Flute Faculty and the Donald E. Hudson Visiting Artist at Cal Tech.

Johanna holds degrees from The Hartt School of Music, San Francisco Conservatory and The Colburn School.   She has studied with John Wion, Tim Day, Jim Walker and Sarah Jackson.  Johanna is on the board of the Los Angeles Flute Guild and affiliated with the San Diego Flute Guild and National Flute Association.
