Aki Nishiguchi
Oboist Aki Nishiguchi is an active performer and educator in the Los Angeles area. She completed a doctorate in oboe performance at the University of Southern California where she studied with David Weiss, Joel Timm and Allen Vogel. She is the director of the Performing Arts Academy Advanced Music Program at Diamond Bar High School where she coaches numerous chamber ensembles and manages a comprehensive music curriculum. In addition to maintaining a large studio of young oboists, she is currently a faculty member at Idyllwild Arts, Pepperdine University, and Mt. San Antonio College as an oboe instructor.
Aki’s passion for early music has led her to study performance practice and period instruments including baroque oboe, Renaissance shawms, dulcian and recorders. As an early woodwind player, she has performed with numerous groups including Ciaramella, Musica Angelica, Bach Collegium San Diego and the California Bach Society.
